New Jersey Divorce Lawyer Explains How Long You Must be a Resident Prior to Filing

Clients often come to me as a New Jersey Divorce Lawyer, to verify how long they must have lived in the state prior to filing for divorce.  In order to file for divorce in New Jersey, the filing party must have lived in the state of New Jersey for at least one year. The one exception to that rule is that, if the cause of action is adultery, the filing party need not meet the one-year requirement.

Have you just moved to New Jersey but looking to file divorce immediately?  Contact dedicated New Jersey Divorce Lawyer Carrie Schultz for guidance.

This educational blog was brought to you by Carrie Schultz, an experienced New Jersey Divorce Lawyer.
